Kazjah Dillon, 24, of North Las Vegas, is facing multiple charges after fleeing the scene at Camino Al Norte and Edna Crane Avenue shortly before 6:30 a.m., according to police. Her two children, one about a year old and the other a few months old, were taken to University Medical Center and were regarded in stable condition, according to police.
Dillon is charged with driving with a suspended license, hit and run, failing to secure her children in required restraints, and several motor vehicle infractions, including excessive speed and failure to maintain her lane, according to police.
North Las Vegas police stated in a statement that “DUI is suspected, but investigators are awaiting toxicology reports for confirmation.”
Positive results could lead to “further charges being brought against the driver,” according to the statement.
Dillon was driving north on Camino Al Norte when she failed to maintain her travel lane, tried to leave the road, and collided with the Las Palmares neighborhood sign at Edna Crane Avenue, according to police.
Officers found the vehicle, a 2012 Chrysler 200, and the children were taken to University Medical Center with critical injuries, according to police.
According to police, a preliminary investigation determined that the woman was impaired and that she sustained injuries that were non-life threatening.
