A Single Standard Replaces Two-Tier System

Previously, Nevada had a two-tier minimum wage system, with employers offering a lower wage if they provided qualified health benefits. This is eliminated, with the $12 minimum wage applying to all employees regardless of health benefits, unless exempt by state law.

Voters Backed Change in 2022

Voters played a key role in this shift, approving Ballot Question 2 in 2022 which eliminated the two-tier system.
