The Brady Firearms Unit background check system in Nevada is now operational again as of 8:00 a.m. Sunday, following a statewide disruption caused by a cyberattack. 

Governor Joe Lombardo said he was pleased with the restoration of access and thanked the Governor’s Technology Office and the Department of Public Safety for working around the clock to restore this public safety function. 

Licensed firearm dealers can once again submit electronic background checks via the FFL Portal. Phone support has also been reactivated, though some dealers who do not use the portal may face delays while call volume normalizes. 

Because a surge in requests is expected, Brady staff are working extended hours to meet the required three-business-day turnaround for background check determinations. Some transactions might remain in “pending review” longer than usual, but officials say all requests will be processed as quickly as possible. 

State authorities continue restoring services in a staged manner, placing priority on security measures.
