LAS VEGAS – Nevada State Police are currently investigating a tragic crash that occurred on Friday morning, claiming the life of a pedestrian on a Las Vegas freeway. The incident took place on the southbound I-15, south of Flamingo.
According to Nevada State Police, troopers were dispatched to the scene around 5 a.m. in response to reports of a pedestrian being possibly struck while crossing the southbound lanes of the freeway. Upon arrival, it was determined that a male adult had been crossing from the westbound side to the eastbound side on the southbound portion when he was hit by a semi-truck and a passenger car.
Witnesses reported that a compassionate civilian stopped at the scene and provided aid until medical personnel arrived. Despite their efforts, the male pedestrian, identified as 32-year-old Christopher Hugh Moran by the Clark County Coroner’s Office, tragically succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
As of Friday, the cause and manner of Christopher Moran’s death were pending, awaiting determination by the coroner’s office.
Due to the ongoing investigation, Nevada State Police implemented a hard closure on the southbound lanes of the I-15, with traffic being diverted off at Flamingo. Motorists were advised to seek alternative routes to avoid the affected area.
At present, no further information regarding the crash is available. Authorities continue to diligently investigate the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
