Nevadans are painting a clearer picture of who they want to see in their November ballots

A big non-partisan race that is facing a runoff election will be the next mayor for the City of Las Vegas.

Nevada is known to be a swing state, meaning it switches between Democrat or Republican. Democratic Senator Jacky Rosen currently holds the seat for U.S. Senate and will head to the November election with 122,318 votes. U.S. Army Captain Sam Brown sets up the Senate race by winning a crowded GOP race, gathering 88,274 votes.

Currently, Democrats hold representative seats such as Dina Titus for District 1, Susie Lee for District 3, and Steven Horsford for District 4. Republican Mark Amodei represents District 2. Mark Robertson will face Titus, Drew Johnson will face Lee, and the Republican race for District 4 has yet to be called as of Wednesday morning.

In North Las Vegas, voters approved two measures on the primary election ballot aimed at providing critical community funding. Question 1, which directs funding to Fund 268, is designed to support the North Las Vegas Fire Department and Recreation Department, and received 77% approval from voters. Question 2, which directs funding into Fund 287, is focused on supporting the North Las Vegas Police Department, the Community Corrections Center, and Animal Protective Services, and received 79% approval from voters.

“I’m thrilled and relieved that our community sees the benefit in maintaining our public safety and quality of life funding,” said North Las Vegas Mayor Pamela Goynes-Brown. “The City of North Las Vegas is on an incredible trajectory and the redirection of these resources would have been a setback for our residents. I view this as a vote of confidence for the course our city has chosen.”
