Las Vegas, NV – A man is dead following an officer-involved shooting Thursday morning near the 200 block of East Tropicana Avenue, close to Koval Lane. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) is currently investigating the incident.
According to LVMPD, officers responded to a disturbance call around 10 a.m. where a man and a woman were reportedly refusing to leave a business and threatening employees. Upon arrival, officers located the individuals matching the description still on the property.
As officers exited their patrol vehicles, they observed the man armed with a knife and appearing agitated. The situation escalated quickly when the man charged towards the officers, prompting one officer to discharge their firearm, striking the suspect.
Medical personnel arrived on scene and transported the man to UMC Trauma, where he was pronounced deceased. No officers were injured during the altercation.
This incident marks another officer-involved shooting in the Las Vegas valley, prompting further scrutiny of police use of force. LVMPD has launched a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting, as is standard protocol in such cases.
