Henderson Barricade Enters Second Day After Officer-Involved Shooting

A tense standoff that began Friday afternoon in a Henderson neighborhood continued through Saturday, with no resolution in sight.

Standoff Begins

The Henderson Police Department (HPD) reported a barricade situation unfolding in the 200 block of Callen Falls Avenue on Friday afternoon. Authorities suspected an armed individual was barricaded inside a residence. Officers from LVMPD, SWAT, and crisis negotiators responded to the scene.

Shooting During Standoff

On Saturday afternoon, HPD released a video update on social media, revealing a crucial development. According to Sergeant Daniel Medrano, officers were involved in a shooting with the suspect at approximately 8:45 am that morning. Thankfully, neither officers nor the suspect sustained injuries.

Negotiations Continue, Area Remains Closed

Despite the shooting, Sergeant Medrano emphasized the situation remained “active and dynamic.” Police negotiations with the suspect were ongoing as of Saturday afternoon. Authorities urged residents to avoid the area, with road closures in place, including Olivia Parkway at Galleria and southbound Galleria at Cadence.
