One Week Till the Major “Dropicana” Building Project

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (702 Times, NV Globe) – It’s getting near to “Dropicana,” a significant NDOT road construction project that will temporarily shut down a portion of I-15.

The Tropicana Overpass’s remaining days are numbered as of next Tuesday, Jan. 17, when the significant impact on traffic will start.

It is soon to be torn down and rebuilt. According to Justin Hopkins, a spokesman for NDOT, “that bridge will no longer be there in a few weeks.”

Tropicana will be closed for more than a week and a portion of I-15 will be totally closed for three days, but the full project won’t be finished until next year.

The county is delaying all of its building projects around Las Vegas Boulevard and other nearby projects while we are working on “Dropicana,” according to Hopkins.

‘Dropicana’ also refers to the eight-day shutdown of Tropicana that began on January 22 in order to prepare for the significant three-day closure of I-15.

NDOT advises against attempting to avoid the project by using the Las Vegas Strip.

Try to exit at either the east or west 215, if you are driving north on I-15. This will help you completely avoid the area, but if you don’t want to, you may take I-15 to Russell, then Russell to Decatur north to Flamingo, and finally back to I-15, according to Hopkins.

According to NDOT, this will significantly affect traffic in the resort corridor and surrounding areas. To receive real-time information and guidance around the work, they advise drivers to download their app.

When FOX5 looked to see whether there were any weekend activities taking place during the I-15 closure, it discovered neither VGK games at T-Mobile Arena nor any events at Allegiant Stadium. The weekend after the closure is when the pro bowl will be played.
