Following an operation to ensure sex offenders were compliant with their sex offender registration, LVMPD and its Sex Offender Apprehension Team, working with various other agencies, detained 32 sex offenders.

Operation Scarecrow was a multi-agency, in-person operation that took place from October 24 to October 28.

The operation’s purpose was to guarantee that sex offenders in Clark County were up to date on their sex offender registration.

Police said that at the end of the operation, 2,356 sex offenders had been notified and 32 had been detained on a variety of crimes. Among the charges were failure to comply with sex offender registration regulations, sexual assault, and breach of probation.

LVMPD and its Sex Offender Apprehension Team were among the authorities involved in this operation, as were the U.S. Marshals Service District of Nevada Sexual Offender Predator Apprehension Team, Nevada State Police, North Las Vegas Police Department, Henderson Police Department, and Las Vegas City Marshals are among those involved.

LVMPD would want to remind sex offenders who are obliged to register that they must verify their residence with law enforcement based on their tier.

• Tier 3 offenders are required to check in quarterly
• Tier 2 offenders are required to check in bi-annually
• Tier 1 offenders are required to check in annually
