LAS VEGAS, NV – A 32-year-old pedestrian is in critical condition after being struck by a car near the Las Vegas Strip on Wednesday evening. The incident occurred at approximately 6:49 p.m. at the intersection of Harmon Avenue and Koval Lane, just east of the famed Strip.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the man was crossing Harmon Avenue outside of a crosswalk when he was hit by a car. The impact left the pedestrian with life-threatening injuries, and he was promptly transported to Sunrise Hospital for immediate medical attention.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene of the accident and did not exhibit any signs of impairment. Police are currently investigating the incident to determine the exact cause of the collision.
Harmon Avenue was shut down from Koval Lane to Paradise Road for several hours due to the debris left behind by the crash. The intersection has since reopened to traffic.
This incident highlights the importance of pedestrian safety, particularly in busy areas like the Las Vegas Strip. Pedestrians should always use designated crosswalks and make eye contact with drivers before crossing the street.
