LAS VEGAS – A postal facility in Henderson was temporarily closed after a small amount of mercury was discovered by postal employees.
No employees were exposed or treated, and the mercury was isolated to a piece of automation equipment.
Industrial hygienists and specialists are evaluating and remediating the situation.
Mercury is a hazardous substance that can cause health issues.
The Postal Service reminds customers that mailing mercury and devices containing mercury is strictly prohibited.
