LAS VEGAS, Nev. (702 Times, NV Globe) – On Wednesday, a rapper who boasted about getting rich by defrauding a COVID assistance program and using stolen identities to acquire money was sentenced to more than six years in jail.
Fontrell Baines, 33, better known as “Nuke Bizzle,” was arrested in Las Vegas in 2020 after releasing a rap video.
Metro police in Las Vegas arrested Baines on September 23, 2020. Officers discovered eight debit cards at the time of the arrest, seven of which were in the names of other persons, according to federal prosecutors.
According to an announcement from the United States Attorney’s Office in California, a court also ordered Baines to repay over $700,000 to California’s Employment Development Department on Wednesday.
The punishment was handed down on Wednesday in connection with three criminal prosecutions.
On July 11, Baines pled guilty to one count of mail fraud and one count of unauthorized possession of a handgun and ammunition by a convicted felon in a separate case.
On August 30, he also pled guilty to oxycodone possession with intent to distribute in a case moved from the Western District of Tennessee.
Since his arrest in October 2020, Baines has been held in federal jail.
