Summerlin Parkway Shake-Up: Overnight Beltway Closures This Week

In a clear investment toward infrastructure that actually works for the people, the $130 million Summerlin Parkway Interchange upgrade is pressing ahead—with some temporary growing pains. Commuters in the Las Vegas Valley should prepare for overnight closures along the 215 Beltway this week as crews work through the night to set the massive precast girders needed to expand the Summerlin Parkway bridge.

On Wednesday, June 25, the northbound lanes on the 215 between Far Hills Avenue and Summerlin Parkway will shut down from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning. Traffic will be rerouted to the Summerlin Parkway offramp and re-enter north of the interchange. Then on Thursday night, the same closure will happen southbound, with drivers diverted east on Summerlin Parkway and through Anasazi Drive before reconnecting to the 215.

This may be a temporary inconvenience for some, but it’s a textbook example of what responsible infrastructure investment looks like: direct improvements for hardworking Nevadans instead of flashy but ineffective pet projects. The Summerlin Interchange upgrade includes a newly designed flyover ramp connecting southbound 215 to eastbound Summerlin Parkway, new bridge construction, widening of the current overpass, and even expanded trail bridges to enhance recreation access.

It’s what local governments should be doing: strengthening transit, improving traffic flow, and keeping projects visible and accountable. The crews aren’t waiting for endless committee debates or federal red tape—they’re laying girders and getting the job done. Construction schedules and real-time updates can be found on the project’s public site.
