LAS VEGAS, Nev. (702 Times, NV Globe) – In order to establish the “first ‘Circus Municipality,'” the producers of a number of Las Vegas Strip performances have bought the whole town.
The Spiegelworld team has bought the desert hamlet of Nipton, California, with ambitions to revitalize it and make it the hub of the business’s international activities. They refer to it as a “real life Schitt’s Creek.”
Spiegelworld describes “Circus Village” as a “living town,” where its artists and performers “will escape to dream, create, and conduct unrestricted artistic experimentation,” which will subsequently be incorporated into its Las Vegas productions.
The village, which is one hour south of Las Vegas, would also provide “visitors and bystanders an experience unlike any other,” the business stated.
“Having a rambunctious circus company purchase a small town may sound like the Schitt’s Creek spin-off series. But that couldn’t be further from the truth. When we visited as guests a few years back, we fell in love with the peacefulness, the vast desert vistas, and the fireside chats with freight train drivers, miners and workers. Jim Eslinger, self-proclaimed mayor of Nipton, warned me that you need to have respect for the Mojave, and the desert will tell you if it is happy or unhappy with what you’re doing,” company frontman Ross Mollison said.
According to the press release, Spiegelworld’s plans for “Circus Town” include a “art-directed, luxury lodging and restaurant experience for a restricted number of visitors,” as well as an artist-in-residence program that will complement the town’s current large-scale sculptural works.
Despite the fact that “the most exciting prospect for Nipton is creating a spiritual home for Spiegelworld where its artists and performers may create and develop new work,” the announcement states that this is the most exciting possibility.
According to Spiegelworld, a creative team will be based in Nipton starting in February to work on concepts for a production that will draw inspiration from the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix, which is scheduled to take place in November.
