The Man Suspected of Killing a Las Vegas Metro Officer Had a Previous Firearms Arrest
LAS VEGAS – According to court documents, the man suspected of murdering a Las Vegas Metro police officer had a prior offense involving a firearm two years prior.
Tyson Hampton, age 24, was charged with threatening with a deadly weapon, a misdemeanor, and assault with a deadly weapon, a felony.
Hampton acknowledged the claims but denied responsibility for the infraction. The felony assault was missing, according to court documents. Both events occurred in July of 2020.
A judge imposed a 90-day suspended jail sentence on Hampton. In addition, he was required to perform 50 hours of community service and surrender a Glock 19 9mm handgun.
The investigation concluded in October of 2021.
Friday morning, Hampton is expected to appear in court.
