LAS VEGAS – Lamb Boulevard at Karen Avenue, a bustling intersection adjacent to Jerome Mack Middle School, witnessed the activation of new traffic signals on Wednesday, August 23 at 7 a.m. The ceremonial activation was carried out by Clark County Commissioner Tick Segerblom and the school’s former principal, Dr. Roxanne James, who had been a fervent advocate for the installation of these signals.
The project’s primary aim is to enhance safety for both students and drivers. Dr. Roxanne James, who dedicated 11 years of service as the principal at Mack Middle School before her retirement last spring, expressed her enthusiasm for the positive impact the project would have. “This project will improve safety for the students who have to cross six lanes of traffic to get to the other side,” she stated. “But it will also improve safety for the drivers. I really think it will help both communities.”
Clark County Commissioner Segerblom echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that the new signals would not only enhance traffic flow but also create a safer environment for all individuals traversing the intersection. The collaboration between the school and local authorities in advocating for these improvements underlines a shared commitment to the welfare of the community.
In addition to the traffic signals, several other roadway enhancements have been undertaken at the intersection to cater to the daily influx of approximately 36,000 vehicles. These include the installation of median islands, pavement upgrades, and intelligent transportation system improvements. These collective measures are expected to contribute significantly to the safety and convenience of all road users in the area.
