NEVADA – A dozen golden retrievers were rescued from overseas and arrived in Las Vegas on Thursday evening.

The dogs were spared from slaughter and transported from China to Vancouver, Canada, where they have been quarantined for six months.

The dogs were brought to Las Vegas by the non-profit organization Goldens Without Borders, which traveled to Canada.

According to the rescue group’s website, the majority of its dogs are slaughterhouse survivors from China and Korea.

Overseas rescue partners provide a safe home for the dogs and prepare them for transport, including vaccinations and quarantine.

Before going, the dogs are usually sterilized.

According to its website, the non-profit group normally places the dogs in foster homes to give them time to adjust before being available for adoption.

As of Thursday, August 25, seven of the twelve dogs were still available for adoption.
