LAS VEGAS – Las Vegas’ Fremont Street came alive on Sunday night as the legendary Irish rock band U2 delighted unsuspecting fans with the world premiere of their latest single, ‘Atomic City.’ The band took to a flatbed trailer pulled by a semi-truck and performed the Las Vegas-inspired track, creating an unforgettable moment. This surprise performance coincides with the filming of a music video for ‘Atomic City,’ a few weeks before U2’s highly anticipated U2 UV: Achtung Baby residency at Sphere, set to kick off at the end of September. Bono, lead singer of U2, described the song as a rock and roll gem in the tradition of late 70s post-punk, reminiscent of bands like Blondie and the Clash.
U2 has a special connection with Fremont Street, as it was the backdrop for their iconic music video ‘I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For’ in 1987, which catapulted the band to international fame.
The residency at Sphere, starting on September 29, has generated immense excitement, with tickets for the first five nights already sold out. The residency extends through December 16, 2023, offering fans a chance to experience U2’s electrifying performances. Ticket prices for this extraordinary event range from $400 to $1,450.
According to Sphere’s official statement: ‘U2 hasn’t played live since December 2019, and we need to get back on stage and see the faces of our fans again. And what a unique stage they’re building for us out there in the desert… We’re the right band, ACHTUNG BABY the right album, and Sphere the right venue to take the live experience of music to the next level… Sphere is more than just a venue; it’s a gallery, and U2’s music is going to be all over the walls.’
Don’t miss U2’s unforgettable residency at Sphere, promising an unparalleled musical experience.
