LAS VEGAS – The suspect in the January stabbing death of another man at a bus stop was on probation for a previous incident in which he threatened to kill a lady with a knife.
On Monday, 27-year-old Justin Bell was arrested and put into the Clark County Detention Center on a charge of open murder. In addition, Bell is being accused of breaking the terms of his probation.
On the evening of January 15th, close to the intersection of Boulder Highway and Nellis Boulevard, 63-year-old David Cary was fatally stabbed.
After the murder, officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department released surveillance footage of a person they believed to be involved in the stabbing.
According to the records, in 2020, Bell threatened to kill a woman by putting a knife to her neck and pointing it at her. According to the papers, Bell and the woman first met some weeks ago through a dating app.
Several months later, he was finally apprehended by the police. A charge of attempted battery causing serious bodily harm was filed against Bell, and he ultimately pled guilty to that charge.
Bell was given a suspended 19-48-month prison sentence by Judge Monica Trujillo. Trujillo was placed on two years of probation.
On Tuesday, Bell was scheduled to make his first court appearance, but he refused to ride in a court-provided transport. On Wednesday, he was scheduled to appear in court.
