Virgin Hotels Las Vegas Accuses Culinary Union of Unfair Bargaining Tactics

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The ongoing labor dispute between Virgin Hotels Las Vegas and the Culinary Union has taken a new turn. Virgin Hotels has filed a complaint with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), alleging that the union bargained in bad faith during contract negotiations.

NLRB Documents Outline Allegations

According to NLRB documents, Virgin Hotels accuses the Culinary Union of engaging in “take it or leave it” bargaining tactics, a practice where a negotiator refuses to consider alternative proposals. Additionally, the documents claim that the Culinary Union threatened employees who chose not to participate in the union or support its actions.

Union Denies Allegations

Ted Pappageorge, Secretary-Treasurer of the Culinary Union, vehemently denies these claims. “Our record speaks for itself,” he stated. “The Culinary Union operates lawfully. The real issue here is Virgin Hotels’ lack of good faith bargaining. They’ve proposed a five-year contract with zero wage increases, and haven’t shown any willingness to budge.”

Negotiation Stalemate

The NLRB documents further reveal that the Culinary Union and Bartenders Unions proposed four separate meeting dates between May 6th and 13th, all of which were rejected by Virgin Hotels. The company did, however, agree to meet on Tuesday, May 14th.

Virgin Hotels Remains Silent on Wage Increases

Virgin Hotels Las Vegas has remained silent on the specific allegations regarding the lack of proposed wage increases for its employees.
