Authorities have reported the drowning of a 44-year-old man in Lake Mohave close to the Nevada-Arizona border.
In the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, rangers from the National Park Service discovered and recovered the body on Saturday close to Cottonwood Cove on Lake Mohave.
Around 2 p.m., according to reports, a visitor dialed 911. In an effort to swim back to his boat, the man was seen struggling on Friday.
Witnesses claim that because the man was not wearing a personal floatation device, he was unable to reach the numerous life jackets that were thrown overboard by onlookers on the boat.
A dive team searched the area all through the evening until it had to be suspended due to strong winds, during which time park rangers arrived on the scene.
The body was discovered and recovered around 11 a.m. on Saturday after search and rescue operations were resumed.
The Clark County Coroner’s Office will be responsible for disclosing the man’s name and manner of death.
