RENO, Nev. (775 Times, NV Globe) – The country has been following the injuries and recuperation of Buffallo Bills safety Damar Hamlin over the previous week and a half.
On January 2, he went into cardiac arrest while playing against the Cincinnati Bengals and was later released from a Buffalo hospital.
His incident has brought to attention the dangers of cardiac arrest and the necessity of heart health.
Cardiac arrest occurs when your heart stops beating as a result of a cardiac arrhythmia, which can occur when impulses to your heart are disrupted. It is not the same as a heart attack, which occurs when the flow of blood to your heart is interrupted or impeded.
There are usually no warning indications of cardiac arrest. Several things may have had a role in Damar Hamlin’s death.
“This is a very rare finding of athletes collapsing like this on a court or football field,” said Matthew Cain, a Cardiac Electrophysiologist. “The reality is that, while we don’t know everything about that situation, more likely there may have been something rare, underlying, and genetic at play in combination with a just right moment on a football field that led to this extremely tragic event.”
Sudden collapse, no pulse, no breathing, and loss of consciousness are all symptoms of cardiac arrest. Chest pain, pain or discomfort in the jaw, neck, back, arms, or shoulders, lightheadedness or weakness, and shortness of breath are all symptoms of a heart attack.
