NEVADA – The passing away of Tambo, a much-loved cheetah, was announced on Monday by the Animal Ark shelter in Reno. Since arriving to the sanctuary, Tambo has been battling a chronic disease known as Feline Herpes Virus. Feline Herpes Virus is a common ailment among cheetahs and had manifested in Tambo through painful sores. The sanctuary’s dedicated team had been tirelessly searching for a treatment plan to alleviate Tambo’s suffering, but their efforts were in vain.
Tambo’s condition took a turn for the worse, leading him to be taken to a veterinarian on Monday. It was then that the heartbreaking decision was made, as it became evident that Tambo’s quality of life was compromised. In his final moments, Tambo was surrounded by the dedicated keepers who had cared for him throughout his time at the Animal Ark sanctuary.
