The Department of Employment Training and Rehabilitation wants to alert the public about the dangers of phishing scams. In light of Cybersecurity Awareness Month, the agency would like to warn people that these scams can be delivered by SMS, email, or fake websites.

Unemployment Insurance employees do not send text messages and urge users to reject texts claiming to be from UI employees. Emails from the unemployment division do not contain links or request personal information. Benefit emails are just informative, and recipients are urged not to reply.

DETR’s official websites for claimants include UI.nv.gov, where users may access an online portal, and EmployNV.gov, where job seekers and companies can locate job ads and workforce training information. DETR advises entering these websites directly into the browser; do not rely on other links.

DETR has various anti-fraud precautions in place, including ID.me, and urges the public to join us in promoting online safety. Those who want to report fraud can do so by filling out our online fraud form or calling our fraud call center at 775-684-0475.
