NEVADA – A owner is facing charges after two of their dogs violently assaulted a 4-year-old in Winnemucca.
On February 24, officers from the Winnemucca Police Department responded to the area of Bridge Street in response to a report of dogs dragging a youngster in the street.
When police arrived, they discovered that three pit bulls had rushed out of a pickup truck parked near the courtroom, with two of them biting the youngster in the leg and dragging him into the street away from his mother.
The third dog stood watch, refusing to allow the child’s mother approach him. Worried neighbors noticed the dogs pulling the boy and attempted to chase them away.
The pit bulls eventually let go of the four-year-old, and the owner was able to secure the dogs in the truck.
The boy was sent to Humboldt General Hospital and treated for his injuries.
The county animal shelter quarantined all three dogs, and the owner was cited for owning vicious, dangerous, and aggressive animals.
The report has been submitted for consideration to the district attorney’s office.
