NEVADA – Northern Nevada and the eastern Sierra have finally received the much-awaited atmospheric river, resulting in heavy rainfall. However, this has raised concerns regarding localized flooding in areas that are prone to floods, and the downpour is expected to persist until Saturday.
To address this issue, the National Weather Service in Reno has released a flood advisory that will remain in effect until Sunday morning. The advisory covers various counties in western Nevada and California, including Washoe, Carson City, Douglas, Storey, Lyon, and Mineral.
While there are no worries about the Truckee River flooding, its water levels are rising. Creeks, streams, and low-lying areas with poor drainage may experience minor to moderate flooding. The Carson and Susan rivers may also encounter minor flooding due to rapid river rises. Although other rivers are anticipated to rise significantly, none are projected to reach the flood stage.
