NEVADA – A grand jury in Washoe County has indicted Jose Flores-Montelongo, a former middle school teacher in Reno, on multiple charges related to sexual misconduct and abuse. The indictments stem from allegations made by two former students, leading to Flores-Montelongo’s arrest by the Reno Police Department in April of 2022.
The initial accusation of sexual misconduct with a former student prompted a second student to come forward, prompting an ongoing investigation into Flores-Montelongo’s actions. Law enforcement encourages anyone with information regarding the case to contact the Reno Police Department.
Flores-Montelongo faces a total of eight charges, including sexual assault on a child under the age of 14, sexual assault on a child under the age of 16, lewdness with a child under the age of 14, lewdness with a child under the age of 16, and sexual misconduct between a school employee and a student.
A jury trial for Jose Flores-Montelongo has been scheduled for June of 2024, where he will face these serious charges of sexual misconduct and abuse.
