RENO, Nev. (775 Times, NV Globe) – The Lyon County Board of Commissioners is now accepting applicants for the position of County Commissioner for District Three.
The district includes sections of Dayton, Stagecoach, and Silver Springs. It was vacated when Ken Gray, the then-commissioner, was elected to the Nevada State Assembly.
Under Nevada state law, the Governor often fills vacancies on the county commission. However, Governor Sisolak informed Lyon County that upon assuming office, new Governor Joe Lombardo will be the one to make that selection.
Lombardo then requested that the County Commissioners consider applications for the job and propose three individuals.
An applicant must be a permanent resident of the district, which includes the following districts: 12, 13, 14, 21, 22, 25, and 26.
Any applicant must also be a registered Republican voter. By 5:00 p.m., all interested applicants must submit their applications to the County Manager’s Office. on Jan. 10.
Applications are available here. Completed applications must be sent to elopez@lyon-county.org or dropped off or mailed to the County Manager’s Office at 27 S. Main Street, Yerington, Nevada 89447.
Applications will be presented to the Board of County Commissioners during their meeting on January 19 at 9:00 a.m.
