NEVADA – In a recent incident, law enforcement authorities in Tahoe City apprehended a man on multiple gun and drug charges. The arrest came after a concerned citizen reported a man openly carrying a firearm while walking around the Cobblestone Movie Theater, prompting a response from the Placer County Sheriff’s Office.
Upon arriving at the scene, deputies conducted a traffic stop on the suspect’s vehicle. During the detainment, they discovered a loaded handgun on the man’s hip. Further search of the vehicle led to the discovery of two additional loaded handguns in the driver’s door pocket and a rifle accompanied by four loaded high-capacity magazines in the trunk.
Notably, possession of the specific rifle found is illegal in California, and transporting it across state lines is considered a felony offense. Additionally, officers uncovered an assortment of prescription bottles and plastic bags containing a substantial quantity of pills during the vehicle search.
The investigation also revealed that the suspect, identified as 42-year-old Thomas Alexander from Oregon, had inquired about the customer arrival times at the theater. As a result, Alexander faces charges including carrying a loaded firearm in public, illegal possession of a rifle, transporting the rifle, and possession of a controlled substance. The Sheriff’s Office has indicated that several other associated offenses have been filed against him as well.
Law enforcement agencies continue to investigate the incident and gather additional information related to Alexander’s activities. The arrest serves as a reminder of the commitment to ensuring public safety and upholding the law.
