Nevada County Teen Who Went Missing Has Been Found Dead
NEVADA – According to Nevada County Sheriff’s Office PIO Andrew Trygg, 16-year-old Trinity Backus, who had been missing since Wednesday, was found dead on Saturday.
After 2 in the afternoon, search and rescue crews spotted Backus. Trygg emailed The Union on Friday to report that she had been found approximately a half mile north of the home where she had been last seen. It’s a “heavily wooded river drainage area,” he said.
There is nothing unusual at this time, and the cause of her death is unknown, Trygg stated. The whole investigation, including an autopsy, will be handled by our coroner’s department.
In a Facebook post published on Thursday, the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office stated that Backus had been missing since he left his home in the 18000 block of Kentucky Ravine Road at around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
