RENO, Nev. (775 Times, NV Globe) – More than $55 million will be provided to the state of Nevada for high-speed internet.
The funds will be used to link more than 40,000 families in the Silver State through broadband infrastructure and other digital connection projects.
The American Rescue Plan’s Capital Projects Fund provides funding for the projects. It will support Nevada’s Low-Income Multi-Dwelling Units Internet Program, which aims to finance broadband infrastructure for affordable housing.
Internet service providers supported by the initiative will take part in a scheme offering low-income families a $30 monthly subsidy.
“High-speed internet is an essential part of life for families in Nevada. Unfortunately, digital disparities limit many Nevadans from using even the most basic of internet services,” said Nevada Senator Jacky Rosen. “I’m proud to announce Nevada will receive more than $55 million to help deliver high-speed internet to more than 40,000 households across our state. With this new funding, we are one step closer to making access to high-speed internet statewide a reality.”
