NEVADA – Legislators in Nevada are discussing a bill that would remove slavery from the state constitution as a ground for criminal prosecution.
On Tuesday, the Assembly’s Committee on Legislative Operations and Elections unanimously passed the bill.
As proposed in Assembly Joint Resolution 10, the state constitution of Nevada would be amended to strike down all references to slavery or involuntary servitude as penalties for the crime.
The proposition would be put before Nevada voters in the general election of 2024 if it receives approval from the state legislature.
