RENO, Nev. (775 Times, NV Globe) – The Nevada Department of Agriculture is looking for sponsors to help feed children during school cancellations.
During the shutdown, the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) delivers free lunches to children aged 18 and under. The meal sites are then compensated.
Sponsors may prepare or serve meals prepared by another SFSP sponsor, public or commercial food vendor, local government agency, or school food service department.
All meals must satisfy the USDA’s minimum meal criteria.
Previously, the initiative was supported by Three Square Food Bank, Food Bank of Northern Nevada, churches, local parks, schools, and Boys & Girls Clubs around the state.
Last year, the program distributed 1.6 million lunches.
Those interested in becoming sponsors should contact Lindsay Talbot by March 24 at 702-668-4581 or LTALBOT@agri.nv.gov.
