RENO, Nev. (775 Times, NV Globe) – Authorities says, a charter school in North Las Vegas was evacuated on Thursday due to a potential chemical exposure.
According to the North Las Vegas Police Department, this occurred at at 11:42 a.m. The institution, known as Legacy Traditional School, requested medical attention on Thursday owing to a potential chemical exposure.
One adult is said to have “become unwell” from the exposure, according to NLVPD. Police claim that the person was not taken from the scene to the hospital. There were no other recorded wounds.
According to authorities, a prospective pupil brought “unknown substances” to the school in jars as a potential “prank,” according to the preliminary inquiry.
As a consequence of the incident, the school was evacuated, according to the police.
According to NLVPD, the armorer unit arrived to the school. There was no more information available right away.
The following statement was made by the Nevada charter schools’ superintendent to the school:
“Shortly after noon today, our Legacy-North Valley campus was evacuated when administrators were notified that a potentially hazardous respiratory irritant had been released indoors during an 8th-grade science class. The building HVAC system was immediately shut down to prevent further spread of the irritant. We are not aware of any students becoming ill due to exposure. Out of an abundance of caution, however, EMS and the North Las Vegas Fire Department’s Hazmat team were contacted to assess the situation. Health authorities informed administrators it was safe to return to the school building at approximately 2:20 p.m. this afternoon.
