Virginia City Biofuel Company Gets $2 Million Grant

RENO, Nev. (775 Times, NV Globe) – A grant of $2 million from the U.S. The Department of Energy will work with a biofuel firm in Virginia City to develop more of the green energy source.

Comstock Inc. has created “an innovative and cost-effective technology that creates sustainable, renewable fuel from wood wastes,” according to the Department of Energy, which they believe will create new employment and lessen Nevada’s carbon footprint.

“Nevada is a clean energy hotspot, and the federal funds I obtained will help bring another innovative biofuel generator online in Northern Nevada,” said Nevada Senator Catherine Cortez Masto, who worked with colleague Nevada Senator Jacky Rosen to get the funding.

“I’ll continue to work to support Nevada’s position as a leader in clean-energy industries that are creating good-paying jobs and growing our state’s economy,” she continued.

“As a renewable energy source, biofuels are a critical part of our efforts to grow and strengthen our clean energy economy,” said Senator Rosen. “I’m proud to have helped secure this funding to incentivize more biofuel manufacturing in our state, which will help lower prices, improve our environment, and create more jobs in Northern Nevada.”
