NEVADA – David Michael Burak, a resident of Nye County, has been sentenced to nine years in prison by a federal judge for distributing and receiving over 250,000 images of children being sexually abused, including infants.
He pleaded guilty in February 2023, more than a year after being arrested in Pahrump.
The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force discovered Burak after finding a device sharing sexual abuse material on a peer-to-peer file-sharing network.
During the search of his residence, investigators found multiple digital devices containing 250,000 files of child sexual abuse material.
It was also discovered that part of Burak’s residence was used for a daycare business with preschool children.
To report suspected child sexual exploitation, contact the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at 1-800-THE-LOST (1-800-843-5678) or visit www.cybertipline.org.
Burak will also have a lifetime term of supervised release in addition to his prison sentence.
