NEVADA – The Reno Housing Authority has launched a new program called RHA Plus 1, which will allow employees to bring their infants with them to work. The program is designed to promote greater parent-child bonding and help new parents feel more comfortable returning to work while still caring for their infants.

Parent employees must have approval from their supervisor and job duties that allow them to bring their infant to work safely. The RHA also offers some flexibility to accommodate employees who have client meetings or other responsibilities that require them to be away from their desk.

The program aims to alleviate the high cost and limited availability of childcare in the area. Infants are allowed in the program until they reach six months of age, after which they must “retire” from the program.

Hilary Lopez, Ph.D., the executive director of the RHA, said that the launch of the program is an exciting way to celebrate the cusp of Mother’s Day. The RHA hopes that the RHA Plus 1 program will provide a valuable benefit for its employees and their families.
