Severe Thunderstorms Expected: Storey County Residents Urged to Prepare for Potential Flooding

NEVADA – Severe thunderstorms are set to hit the area this afternoon and Tuesday afternoon, prompting authorities to issue a warning to residents to take necessary precautions. The Public Works department is on high alert and will maintain round-the-clock monitoring and response efforts to minimize potential flooding issues.

In case of non-emergency situations, residents are advised to contact Storey County Dispatch at 775-847-0950. To help residents prepare for potential flooding, Storey County has designated several sand and sandbag locations across the area. These include the Ice House at 130 Toll Road in Virginia City, Fire Station 72 at 2610 Cartwright Road in Virginia City Highlands, Fire Station 74 at 431 Canyon Way in Lockwood, and the Mark Twain Community Center at 500 Sam Clemens Road.
