NEVADA – A man has been arrested for allegedly robbing a Chevron gas station in South Lake Tahoe on August 30. According to the City of South Lake Tahoe Police Department, officers received a report of an armed robbery at the gas station located at the corner of Lake Tahoe Blvd and Winnemucca Avenue at around 3:30 p.m.
The suspect, later identified as William Ehlers, reportedly held the clerk at gunpoint and left with an undisclosed amount of money and an energy drink. Surveillance footage showed that the suspect had identifiable tattoos and a black handgun.
SLTPD patrol officers and detectives arrived at the scene and began investigating. About an hour and a half after the robbery, the suspect was tracked to a home near Gardner and Taylor Way. The SLTPD SWAT team was activated, and a search warrant was obtained.
Ehlers was taken into custody without force, and the gun and energy drink were recovered during a search of the home. He was booked at the El Dorado County Jail for armed robbery, with bail set at $50,000.
