NEVADA – Southern Nevada officials have released the latest figures on complaints and citations related to illegal fireworks following the Independence Day celebrations. The “You Light it, We Write It” campaign resulted in 61 citations and the seizure of 2,537 pounds of illegal fireworks, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. The enforcement efforts began in the week leading up to the Fourth of July holiday.
Police confirmed that there were no arrests made as a result of this initiative. Instead, residents were encouraged to report illegal fireworks through the ispyfireworks.com website, rather than tying up emergency phone lines by calling 911 or 311 for non-life-threatening situations.
Clark County officials closely monitored the complaints received from the community, starting from the previous Wednesday through the Fourth of July. Over this period, a total of 12,463 complaints were submitted, with an overwhelming 10,199 complaints being filed on Independence Day alone.
Analyzing the data, it was revealed that the 89123 zip code, located south of the Harry Reid International Airport, had the highest number of complaints with 531 reports. The 89108 area in the northwest followed with 485 complaints, while the 89117 zip code in the west valley had 388 reports.
The authorities continue to emphasize the importance of reporting illegal fireworks to ensure the safety and well-being of the community.
