Nye County, NV – A devastating head-on crash on U.S. Highway 95 last month resulted in the loss of three lives. The incident occurred on May 20, around 9:25 p.m., when a Chevrolet Trax traveling north on U.S. 95, near Mercury, veered into oncoming traffic and collided with a Dodge Ram pickup truck, as confirmed by the Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP) in a statement released on Thursday.
The collision claimed the lives of two individuals from Las Vegas: 22-year-old Victor Jacuinde-Garcia, the driver of the Chevrolet Trax, and 24-year-old Giovanni Vazquez. Both individuals succumbed to their injuries at the scene, according to NHP.
Tragically, a young girl who was a passenger in the Dodge Ram was transported to Desert View Regional Medical Center following the crash. Despite medical intervention, she tragically passed away. The NHP has not disclosed the identity of the girl at this time.
The exact cause of the head-on collision is still under investigation. NHP officers are working diligently to gather all the necessary information and evidence to determine the factors that led to this tragic incident.
The loss of three lives in this devastating crash serves as a somber reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for cautious driving. Our thoughts and condolences go out to the families and friends of the victims during this difficult time.
