NEVADA – The Washoe County Health District is set to change its name to Northern Nevada Public Health (NNPH) on August 31, 2023.
The name change was approved by the City Councils of Reno and Sparks, and the Washoe County Commission in July 2022 to give more autonomy to the regional organization.
The change will include updated branding, a new website, and a new email domain. However, all services and responsibilities such as immunizations, birth & death records, permitting & compliance, air monitoring, and disease investigation will remain unchanged.
The District Board of Health will continue to govern the organization, with members appointed by the City Councils of Reno and Sparks, Washoe County Commission, and a physician appointed by the District Board of Health Members.
