NEVADA – In a somber announcement, the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office revealed the passing of Murphy, a beloved police dog. The springer spaniel, originally from Ireland, was extensively trained in narcotics detection and had been a valuable member of the High Intensity Drug Trafficking area task force, partnering with Deputy Gamboa.
Murphy’s dedicated service to public safety began in 2012 when he joined forces with Nevada State Police Trooper Vietti. Later, he became an integral part of the sheriff’s office. After seven years of unwavering commitment, Murphy retired in October 2019. Fondly remembered for his relentless love for playing ball, he brought joy to those around him, even during intense operations.
Following his retirement, Murphy enjoyed a well-deserved rest and spent many wonderful years with his family, always keeping his cherished ball close by.
