NEVADA – Washoe County Health District (WCHD) is telling people not to buy kimchi from Sparks’s Yim’s Produce and Seafood. Products were sent out without being looked at first.
The products are whole or sliced kimchi that was made between December 1, 2022 and January 13, 2023. They come in 1/4-gallon, 1/2-gallon, and 1-gallon containers.
Food safety rules couldn’t be checked either, and the kimchi products were made in a place that didn’t allow them to be made.
The kimchi was sent to restaurants in Washoe County and sold at a store on Rock Boulevard in Sparks.
People who bought or sold the products are asked not to eat them. Instead, these things should be thrown away or taken back to where they were bought.
There have been no reports of these products making people sick. People with signs or symptoms of a food-borne illness should immediately call a doctor or nurse.
The company started a recall on its own on January 14, 2023. But health officials said they couldn’t tell whether the recall worked. It was decided that the bad product might still be in the hands of retail food stores in Washoe County.
