RENO, Nev. (775 Times, NV Globe) – It’s that time of year when you can start feeling ill. There are some suggestions for staying well and avoiding the common cold, flu, COVID-19, and RSV.
Washing your hands, coughing or sneezing into your elbow, and cleaning touched surfaces are all crucial reminders.
Since the start of the respiratory virus season on October 1st, the Washoe County Health District has observed RSV transmission grow five weeks in a row, with 187 documented cases. RSV is a common children virus that can also affect adults. Look for symptoms such as fever, coughing, wheezing, and loss of appetite.
According to the WCHD, flu rates remain stable when compared to prior flu seasons, and COVID is averaging 44 cases per day.
According to Lisa Lottritz of the Washoe County Health District, it is equally critical to watch out for our older friends and family.
“Just remember this is the time for Flu, COVID, and RSV, and take those precautions that we were taking before if you can. Again, staying home if you’re sick if you feel comfortable wearing a mask to help protect yourself and others and washing your hands,” Lottritz said.
This season, concentrate on obtaining your vitamins and making healthy choices.
At WCHD, COVID and flu vaccinations are provided.
