The following is a press release from the Douglas County School Board

Following recent developments about the Superintendent’s role within the Douglas County School District (DCSD), it’s important to clarify the situation for our community. Ms. Jeannie Dwyer continues in her role as Interim Superintendent due to procedural discrepancies during a recent vote, notably the absence of proper agenda placement and public discussion, as mandated by Nevada statutes and DCSD bylaws. This oversight necessitates declaring the action null and void.

In light of this, the Board is deliberating on next steps, which may include calling a special meeting to ensure a transparent, inclusive process for appointing a permanent Superintendent. Alternatively, we may proceed with reviewing current applications for the position, inviting Ms. Dwyer to participate in this process. A decision regarding this matter will be communicated in the coming days.

The Board remains steadfast in its commitment to the well-being and success of our students, staff, and broader community. We thank our community for its patience and trust as we navigate this situation, ensuring adherence to our principles of integrity and excellence in education.

  • And that was a planned and orchestrated attempt by the lib leaning trustees. Thank goodness this is null and void which it ought to be.
