The candidates for Washoe County Commission District 1, which stretches from southwest Reno to Incline Village, are Democratic Commissioner Alexis Hill (she/her) and GOP challenger Marsha Berkbigler. Berkbigler was soundly defeated by Hill in the 2020 general election after serving the district for seven years.
According to financial reports, Hill has a significant fundraising advantage with over $220,000 cash on hand, compared to Berkbigler’s $3,800 cash on hand.
According to their press release, “Each candidate will have the opportunity to present their key issues and goals, followed by a moderated Q&A session where community members can ask questions about topics that matter most to them. The forum will be moderated by IVCB Community Forum members. Questions will only be accepted during the meeting from those attending in-person.”
“We believe that an informed community is the cornerstone of a healthy democracy,” said Linda Offerdahal, IVCBA Executive Director. “This forum is designed to give voters a clear understanding of where each candidate stands on important issues so they can make an informed decision in the upcoming election.”
Offerdahal has contributed $1,040 to Hill’s reelection campaign.
