9 People Displaced After Fire Breaks Out At Las Vegas Apartment Complex

LAS VEGAS – A fire at a southwest Las Vegas apartment complex Sunday evening displaced nine people.

According to Clark County Fire Department Deputy Fire Chief Warren Whitney, smoke began to fill an apartment at 8985 S. Durango Drive around 6:38 p.m. Sunday.

The cause of the incident was determined to be an electrical short within a wall, and the statement stated that the structure had a history of fires in a wall.

There were no injuries, and the fire did not spread to adjacent apartments.

Whitney calculated that the damage would cost around $300,000.

The fire displaced nine people from two families, according to the American Red Cross of Southern Nevada.

“In the next days and weeks, Red Cross will continue to assist the family and link them with community services,” said Red Cross spokesperson Keith Paul in a statement.
