LAS VEGAS, Nev. (702 Times, NV Globe) – An extensive fence operation was busted on November 17 when police executed a search warrant and detained three males, according to an arrest report, following four different investigations involving stolen items over a three-month period.
Investigators claimed they discovered stolen material worth up to $1 million during a search request on a residence in the 2100 block of Glen Heather Way, near Sahara Avenue and Rancho Drive.“Every room in the house was filled floor to ceiling with property,” the report said.
Jose Campos Rodriguez, Jose Morales Casas, and Jose Reyes were detained for participation in organized retail theft as well as purchasing, having, and receiving stolen items. According to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, the males had been functioning as a fencing operation for several months, if not years. According to the article, they had been buying from the same folks on a daily basis for more than two years.
According to the arrest report, Campos Rodriguez told officers he acquired and sold the stuff on platforms like eBay and Craigslist and claimed he had no idea the items were stolen. When investigators questioned him about his “legal” business, he was unable to provide any information about his funds or business operations and pointed officers to his father, Jose Reyes, who was also arrested.
Officers serving the search warrant discovered Morales Casas and Reyes in a rear room where they looked to be attempting to remove data from two computers. Officers also discovered four fireproof safe-type boxes coated with aluminum foil, which prevents a cell phone from transmitting a signal. The crates were loaded with phones, including several labeled “Blacklisted,” a word used for phones that have been reported stolen and cannot be sold in the United States, according to the arrest report.
According to police, the individuals knew they were purchasing and selling stolen items since the mobile phones were labeled.
