After an Outage Thursday, State Websites and Services Are Back Online Saturday
LAS VEGAS – On Saturday, all state government websites and services were restored after the issue that had caused the outage on Thursday had been resolved overnight, according to a tweet from the authorities.
The outage, which began on Thursday evening, was caused by a fire in Northern Nevada that damaged a fiber connection, rendering it physically inoperable.
“Repair of the damaged fiber that caused the state government internet outage has been finished,” the Nevada Department of Administration tweeted at 12:50 a.m. on Saturday. “State websites and services are back online.”
Some emails sent to or from state email addresses during the outage may not have been delivered, according to the agency.
Thursday at approximately 5:30 p.m., state websites went offline. The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles was forced to close on Saturday as a result.
